Nice Addition
This decal is a bit fiddly to get right. I would spend a lot of time trimming the backing paper. The bottom stripe did not fit on my Gladiator so I just trimmed it off before installing the decal - it would have ended up outside of the vent depression I used the hinge method on this one with great success. Heat the surface with a hair dryer and clean it well prior to installing. The decal is subtle and looks great - my Gladiator looks way better with the decals than the bare truck.

How hard/easy is this decal to install?

A:
This decal is MODERATELY DIFFICULT to install. I would recommend using a wet method for installation. Peel decal from the backer, apply and then align. You will need to slide the decal and tuck it under the plastic vent unless you have removed it. As carefully and completely as possible push out fluid with a lint-free cloth.
Your solution should be 1/3 Isopropyl Alcohol & 2/3 Distilled Water + a few drops of baby soap in a clean spray bottle.

Q:
The passenger side is not shown - is the canton to the front on the passenger side as well? (The canton should always be forward of the direction the flag is moving)

A:
You will find that the passenger side also has the flag, the blue field of stars should always be in the highest position of honor. So if you are displaying the flag on a wall (horizontally or vertically) the blue field of stars will always be in the upper left. When displayed on a person or vehicle the FRONT is the highest position of honor.
Army Regulation 670-1 states, “the American flag patch is to be worn, right or left shoulder, so that “the star field faces forward, or to the flag’s own right. When worn in this manner, the flag is facing to the observer’s right, and gives the effect of the flag flying in the breeze as the wearer moves forward.”

Q:
I can see from the customer images that some of the fender vent decals fit closer to the actual fender while others have a gap. How can I be sure that if I order, mine won't have the gap? I like it best when the stars portion of the decal meets up with the fender.

A:
Most of the customer displayed pictures are of the standard edition. You will notice that the decal stops just short of the fender flares. The extended version will go into the fender but require more work but it will give you a cleaner look. The "Standard Ed" is designed for Rubicon models as their fender flares are higher and most find it easier to install. The "Extended Ed" can be used with all models but they are designed to go into the fender flare.

Oracal 651 - Orange is closest to Mojave Orange, Light Blue is closest to 4xe Blue (non-metallic) & Dark Red is closest to Rubicon Red

This decal is SEMI-DIFFICULT to install. CDD Graphics doesn't accept any liability for you damaging your graphic during installation and will not replace them if you do. We would recommend you have your decals installed professionally. There are literally thousands of professional graphic installers located throughout the United States. You can also visit a local window tint shop, body shop, or sign shop and they will usually install the kit for a minimal fee.
Required Tools:
Retractable razor blade, Squeegee, Tape measure/ Ruler, Spray bottle full of alcohol.
Optional: For a less aggressive initial tack but longer drying time, you can spray the tacky surface of your decal and the surface of your vehicle to allow for flexibility in positioning. Allow at least 10 minutes of drying time. Be sure to check for tack before removing the transfer tape.
All surfaces must be considered dirty and must be cleaned before the application of the vinyl decal. Painted metals should be cleaned with an automotive detergent. Wipe the surface dry with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth.
Step 1: Tape in Place
Align the decal, and line the vinyl up with a horizontal line near it. Use a level to be sure it is straight and even. Place masking tape on the corners to hold it in place. Add a line of masking tape along the top of the decal once you are happy with the position - this is to prepare for hinging.
Step 2: Remove the Backing Paper
Hinge the decal toward masking tape and slowly peel the backing from the corner. Peel carefully from one side to the other and peel down until the backing paper is removed. Hold the center of the decal taught and keep the decal from touching the surface.
Step 3: Applying Your Decal
With a squeegee, starting at the center of the decal and working outward, firmly swipe down and out, pushing the vinyl onto the vehicle. Use smooth strokes from the center outward to push air bubbles out. Be sure to press every section of the decal down. Go over the decal again with your squeegee, ensuring it's applied.
Step 4: Remove Transfer Tape and Trim (if necessary)
Remove the application tape, keeping it flat with the surface. Do this process slowly, watching the decal applied to the surface correctly. Use a retractable razor blade trim along door openings and fold excess vinyl inward. Ensure the vinyl graphic has been applied completely and evenly on the vehicle.
Tip:
If bubbling occurs, poke tiny dots with a sharp point of an exacto knife (careful not to cut or poke too hard) and smooth the vinyl down with your finger.
