Installation Instructions for Perforated Window Vinyl Graphics
Required Tools:
Plastic squeegee with felt edge (recommended)
Masking tape or painter’s tape
Spray bottle with mild soapy water solution (1 drop of dish soap per quart)
Lint-free microfiber cloth
Razor blade or precision knife
Rubbing alcohol (for surface prep)
Important: Your decal has a perforated surface which can trap moisture and air if not applied carefully. Avoid installing in temperatures below 50°F (10°C) or in direct sunlight. Always clean the glass thoroughly before installation. Do not use glass cleaners with ammonia or additives that leave a film.
Step-by-Step Application Guide
Step 1: Clean and Prep the Surface
Clean the window with rubbing alcohol and a lint-free cloth to remove all dirt, wax, or residue. Even new vehicles should be treated as dirty. Allow the surface to fully dry before proceeding.
Step 2: Position the Decal
With the backing still on, hold the decal up to the window and use masking tape to secure it in place along the top edge (creating a "hinge"). Step back to ensure the design is centered and level. Make adjustments as needed.
Step 3: Peel and Apply (Hinge Method)
Lift the decal upward from the bottom (using the top tape hinge), and slowly peel away the backing paper from the top down, exposing the adhesive. Spray a light mist of the soapy water solution onto the window (optional, but helps reposition if needed).
Lower the decal carefully onto the glass, using your hand to gently press it into place as you go. Do not stretch or distort the material.
Step 4: Squeegee from the Center Outward
Use a felt-edged squeegee to smooth the decal from the center outward in firm, overlapping strokes. Work out all air pockets and moisture. Be thorough—this step ensures long-lasting adhesion and a clean look.
Step 5: Trim and Finish
Once the decal is in place and bubbles are removed, use a razor blade or precision knife to trim excess material along window edges, seals, or obstructions. Do not trim until fully adhered and dry.
Let the graphic sit for 24 hours before washing or exposing it to heavy rain.
Tips & Aftercare
- Avoid power-washing or using ice scrapers directly on the graphic.
- For stubborn bubbles, use a small pin or needle to pop the bubble and press air out with your finger.
- Do not roll down windows with applied graphics unless installed on fixed panes.
